Q&A: Which LIGHTWEIGHT Vacuum has the best suction?

Question by daa: Which LIGHTWEIGHT Vacuum has the best suction?
Yes, I do realize that no lightweight vacuum will compare with a full-size. I’m looking for a light vacuum, with reasonably good suction for quick, every day or two vacuuming of the main living areas. I have hard floors, with a couple of wool pile area rugs. I’ll still use a full-size vacuum for the weekly cleaning. Suggestions?

Anyone have/reviews on an Infinity Upright Vacuum Cleaner with Pet Care System?

Question by Lisa K: Anyone have/reviews on an Infinity Upright Vacuum Cleaner with Pet Care System?
I have never heard of this brand, but it says that it’s just as good as a Dyson in the reviews on Target.com. Don’t really want to spend $ 500 on a vacuum… But we have a really big house and 5 cats… Yes, 5.

Answer by Dave
I’m a vac tech, and I’ve never heard of that before. It’s probably privately labeled and if that’s the case, you could have serious problems getting warranty work done or finding parts out of warranty. I can’t recommend it. The best brands are Riccar, Simplicity, Sebo, and Miele. If you are looking for an upright check out the Riccar 8955, or R800. Riccar makes the best brush roller on the market. It is very aggressive and perfect for grabbing up cat hair. The 8955 comes with a hepa exhaust filter, and you can buy high filtration bags for either one of them to help cut down on animal smells.

When will be at the point where androids/robots are fairly common for housework?

Question by : When will be at the point where androids/robots are fairly common for housework?
Robots in terms of humanoid robots that do routine housework like laundry, cleaning, etc. I was talking to a friend about this, who thinks this will never happen soon, but I think it’s reasonable to assume that robot labor isn’t far off.

I don’t mean those goofy little robot vacuum cleaners from Sharper Image, but actual human-appearing (or even C3PO appearance) robots that can move about and do mundane housework. NOT necessarily with interactive A.I. that can talk and listen and reason, but rather just robots for semi-easy housework (like doing laundry, cleaning up messes, etc)

Any thoughts?

Q&A: Help My Vacuum is Clogged! Picture Included.?

Question by misty g: Help My Vacuum is Clogged! Picture Included.?
I have an Infinity Bagless Vacumm and the Hose is Clogged, I’ve gotten the snake part of the hose unclogged but when I turn the Vacumm up side down the hose that is at the bottom and unable to be detached it is still fully clogged, I’ve taken it apart as much as I can and I still don’t see a way to get it unclogged. Can anyone help me? My Floors are in desperate need of a Vacuum Cleaner. Click this link to see a Picture of the part I’m speaking of.

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u212/MDG1982/vacuum003.jpg

I’ve tried to open it where it looks like it would open up but it apparently doesn’t because so far my attempts at doing so have failed.
To my Work here is Done. I had those taken off at one point and it did nothing, all that’s underneath those screws is a place to take out the Control Buttons that sit on top of the Vacuum, I don’t see the power head or a place where it can be unscrewed. it’s not sawdust it’s pine shavings from my guinea pigs didn’t think Vacuuming up the little bit they get on the floor would matter too much, Guess I was wrong.

Q&A: My Dyson Vacuum Cleaner DC17 Allergy model pulls out a lot of carpet fiber. Will it ruin my carpet eventually?

Question by jr: My Dyson Vacuum Cleaner DC17 Allergy model pulls out a lot of carpet fiber. Will it ruin my carpet eventually?
I bought a Dyson DC17 vacuum cleaner (Allergy model) and each time I use it on my wall to wall carpet, it pulls out a lot of carpet fiber. There is no height adjustment feature and I am afraid it will eat up my carpet eventually. I have a nice expensive carpet and I am afraid this vac cleaner will ruin it.
Any advise?

Best answer:

Answer by Mel
well if this is just a new vacuum it could be ridding your carpet of the loose fibers and not pulling them out. so i suggest just keep using it because the allergy model has a higher vacuum. and see if in about 2 weeks if it is doing the same thing that i would call the person/place that installed the carpet and ask them what you should do. or dyson to see if this is normal.
